When Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds began dating, they made a pact not to work simultaneously. Lively revealed this during an interview with her “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” co-star Amber Tamblyn on Tamblyn’s Substack video series, “Further Ado,” according to Entertainment Tonight.
“When Ryan and I got together, we made a rule not to work at the same time so that we could always prioritize our personal life,” Lively shared with Tamblyn.
The couple’s relationship started in 2011, during Lively’s involvement in “Gossip Girl,” where she faced a demanding schedule.
“I’m used to working hard and going and going and going and going and not stopping,” Lively explained. “Especially, ‘Gossip Girl’ was six years of my life, and we were sometimes shooting three episodes at once.”
Maintaining separate work schedules required considerable effort, Lively admitted. “That takes working really hard when we’re not. Just like financial planning and sustaining that; it takes balance,” she said.
This arrangement aligns with their approach to parenting as well. Reynolds previously mentioned in a 2021 LinkedIn interview that they strive to ensure their children have a normal schedule. “For many years when my wife Blake would shoot a film, I would not shoot a film,” he said. “And I would be with the kids and vice versa, so we sort of trade-off. We never really worked at the same time.”
Married since 2012, the couple shares four children: James, 9, Inez, 7, Betty, 4, and a one-year-old whose nаme they have yet to disclоse. Despite their public profiles, they prefer to keep their family life private.
Lively expressed this sentiment in a 2016 interview with Marie Claire, saying, “Ryan had a nice, normal upbringing, and we want our kids to have the same normal life that we had. We don’t ever want to rоb them of what we had because then we’d feel really selfish.”
A representative for Lively was not immediately available for comment outside regular business hours.
