After the ‘final moments’ of Dr Michael Mosley were reportedly shown in CCTV footage, the results of his post mortem have now been released.
Michael, who had appearances on This Morning, went missing on the Greek island of Symi on Wednesday (June 5). His wife, Clare Bailey, raised an alarm that evening after he failed to come home six hours after a hike.
However, on Sunday (June 9), it was confirmed by Symi mayor Lefteris Papakalodoukas and police that Michael’s body had been found.
It’s now been alleged that Michael was shown in new and chilling CCTV footage – where he may have ‘fell on a rocky hillside’. As well as that, Greek authorities have released details of his autopsy.
Dr Michael Mosley post mortem results
According to Greek media, Dr Mosley may have taken a tragic final rest just a few yards away from the safety of a restaurant. The autopsy was completed today in Rhodes with initial findings indicating the doctor’s time of death was around 4pm on the day he went missing.
Footage of Dr Mosley’s final moments reveals the 67-year-old medic was walking at a slow pace through the mountain trying to reach the beach of Agia Marina.
A report by the coroner in Greece shows that the doctor appears to have rested his hand on a terrace before collapsing – possibly because he was feeling unwell in the day’s 37C heat.
The autopsy reportedly shows that it doesn’t appear Dr Mosley sustained any injuries that indicate criminal activity.
However, the condition of the remains has made difficult to establish the doctor’s exact cause of death.

After days of searching, Michael’s body was sadly found on Sunday (June 9). The body was found close to a cave complex beside Agia Marina on Symi, around 10 metres from the sea, and did not appear to show any signs of injury.
As the BBC reports, new CCTV footage – which the BBC has been told about but not seen – from a local bar appears to show his final moments.
The doctor reportedly makes his way down a slope before disappearing behind a wall and falling out of view.
Michael Mosley wife statement
It comes after Michael’s wife Clare broke her silence on her husband’s tragic death. She has said in a statement: “I don’t know quite where to begin with this. It’s devastating to have lost Michael, my wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant husband. We had an incredibly lucky life together. We loved each other very much and were so happy together.
“I am incredibly proud of our children, their resilience and support over the past days. My family and I have been hugely comforted by the outpouring of love from people from around the world. It’s clear that Michael meant a huge amount to so many of you.”
She continued: “We’re taking comfort in the fact that he so very nearly made it. He did an incredible climb, took the wrong route and collapsed where he couldn’t be easily seen by the extensive search.
“Michael was an adventurous man, it’s part of what made him so special.”
“We are so grateful to the extraordinary people on Symi who have worked tirelessly to help find him. Some of these people on the island, who hadn’t even heard of Michael, worked from dawn till dusk unasked. We’re also very grateful to the press who have dealt with us with great respect.
“I feel so lucky to have our children and my amazing friends. Most of all, I feel so lucky to have had this life with Michael. Thank you all.”
