Barbra Streisand and husband James Brolin reveal saucy secret they have kept for decades years on their 25th anniversary

Barbra Streisand and James Brolin celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this year. The couple has been quite open about their relationship in the media, discussing how they found love later in life.

Recently, they shared a previously hidden detail about their romance. Read on to find out more!

The love story of Barbra Streisand and James Brolin began like many others: with a blind date. Brolin had no idea that Streisand had a completely different image of him in her mind.

Streisand thought she was meeting a man with a full head of hair and a beard. Instead, she was surprised to see that Brolin was bald.

Known for her honesty, Streisand immediately told her date that his hair was messed up. Rather than being offended, Brolin was charmed, realizing Streisand was the one for him.

It took Streisand a few more dates to be sure of her feelings for Brolin. But soon, they fell deeply in love and got married in 1998.

This was not the first marriage for either of them. Streisand had been married to Elliott Gould from 1961 to 1973, and they share a son, Jason. Brolin had been married twice before, first to casting agent Jane Agee for 20 years, and then to Jane Smithers for nearly 10 years.

Brolin has three children from his previous marriages: Josh, Jess, and Molly Brolin. He is also a grandfather to four grandchildren: Eden, Trevor, Westlyn, and Chapel.

Brolin is deeply in love with his wife. He once said, “Every night is a new adventure. Sleeping is a waste of time. I can’t wait to see her again in the morning.”

The couple recently celebrated their 25th anniversary and revealed a long-kept secret. In an interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, they shared something few people knew. Before meeting Streisand, Brolin had been celibate for three years.

“I had been — literally it’s a wild word — but I had been celibate for three years, saying, ‘Who needs this?’” Brolin shared with King.

Streisand playfully scolded him, saying, “You’re not supposed to tell that.”

King was surprised, repeating, “For three years?”

Brolin responded, “I had not had any interest in getting involved in a lousy situation.”

“After three years, that must have been a hell of a night then?” King asked. Brolin confirmed and added, “Wild!”

Brolin’s decision to avoid intimacy stemmed from his two failed marriages. He saw no point in entering another potentially troubled relationship.

However, after a friend persuaded him to meet Barbra, his perspective changed, and he realized he wanted to marry her. Streisand, on the other hand, needed more convincing, finally saying yes after Brolin asked her for the third time.
