The Princess of Wales and Princess Charlotte recently displayed their close mother-daughter bond at this year’s Trooping the Colour.
Princess Charlotte has shown that she is very “protective” of the Princess of Wales, an expert has claimed.
As she joined her family on the Buckingham Palace balcony earlier this month, Princess Kate looked every inch the doting mother as she gazed down at her three children.
However, it was her evident close bond with her only daughter that delighted fans of the Royal Family.
Stepping out for her first public appearance of the year, Kate could be seen gently stroking Charlotte’s hair and neatly arranging it at the back – a clear indication of the bond that the mother-daughter duo share.
Speaking to HELLO!, royal expert Ingrid Seward said that she feels the nine-year-old is very “protective” of her mother.
She said: “I think that Charlotte is really taking care of her mum. It was quite sweet the way she stood in front of her and they kept chatting.
“Charlotte seems to be very full of admiration for her mother, which I think is a lovely thing, too.”
Although Princess Kate also appears close to her two boys – Prince George, 10, and Prince Louis, six – Ms Seward described her bond with Charlotte as “very precious”.
Discussing their bond, she added: “Kate and Charlotte are great friends and I think to Kate, their bond is very precious.

“The mother-daughter relationship is obviously particularly important to Kate because she has such a close relationship with her own mother, Carole Middleton.
Ms Seward added that Kate is trying to “replicate” something that the late monarch liked – having a “very, very close family”.
She said: “They are a very, very close family, which is something the late Queen really liked and thought would play into Kate’s hands and the position that she was getting into.
“She had such a stable family and I think that’s what Kate’s trying to replicate.”

Describing Charlotte as “mini-mum”, Ms Seward said that Charlotte is often the sibling who is seen trying to instill royal protocol in her two brothers’ during outings.
Echoing what is said by Ms Seward, royal biographer Robert Jobson said that Charlotte is “learning from both her parents”.
Also previously speaking to HELLO!, he said: “She does seem to be a little mother figure among her siblings.”
